Indians release left-hander Lewis

BALTIMORE -- The Indians released one of their past early-round Draft selections Friday. Pitcher Scott Lewis, taken in the third round in 2004, struggled with injuries in recent years and had been playing for Triple-A Columbus.

Lewis briefly pitched for the Indians in 2008, going 4-0. He made his Major League debut in September of that year, throwing eight innings against the Orioles. The left-hander had struggled recently with elbow soreness.
