John Drennen, the Indians' supplemental first-round pick in the 2005 First-Year Player Draft, has received a 50-game suspension in violation of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program after testing positive for Clomiphene, a performance-enhancing substance, the Commissioner's office announced Tuesday.
Drennen, a 24-year-old outfielder, was the 33rd overall pick in the 2005 draft. In seven Minor League season, he was batting .267 with 48 home runs and 301 RBIs. He was currently with Double-A Akron, batting .256 with three homers, nine doubles and 15 RBIs in 36 games with the Aeros.
In 2006, Drennen -- a Honolulu, Hawaii native -- hit a home run off of Roger Clemens, who was on rehab assignment with the Lexington Legends, Houston's Class A affiliate.
