Indians make another round of cuts

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. -- Inching closer to the completion of their Opening Day roster, the Indians made their next batch of cuts Thursday morning.

Outfielder Brad Snyder was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo, while non-roster invitee relievers Matt Ginter, Jeff Harris and Rich Rundles, catchers Armando Camacaro and Dave Wallace and infielders Danny Sandoval and Aaron Herr all were reassigned to Minor League camp.

Cleveland manager Eric Wedge said earlier this week he plans to start playing his regulars more in the Tribe's Grapefruit League games, so this set of moves should aid those efforts by easing the crowding in camp.

The Indians, one week away from leaving Florida and 11 days away from the March 31 season opener against the White Sox at Progressive Field, only have two roster decisions to make before camp lets out: the fifth starter's job and the last bullpen spot. The second utility infield job also has been billed as a battle, though it's long been expected the spot will go to Andy Marte.

Ginter and Harris had been in the running for the spot in the 'pen, though it's been anticipated that would come down to Tom Mastny and non-roster invitees Jorge Julio and Scott Elarton.
