Dellucci day-to-day with sore forearm

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. -- David Dellucci hoped to be back on the field Thursday, but the Indians remain cautious as the left fielder deals with soreness in his left forearm.

Dellucci was out of Thursday's lineup against the Rays, and he is not on the Tribe's travel roster for Friday's trip to Disney to take on the Braves.

"He's still day-to-day," Cleveland manager Eric Wedge said. "We don't want to push it right now."

Dellucci, who is expected to platoon with Jason Michaels in left this season, told reporters Wednesday the injury is the result of overwork. He has taken extra hitting and done extra lifting and throwing as he comes back from the left hamstring tear that sidelined him for the majority of the 2007 season.

"Obviously, with the volume of his swings, it flared up on him a little bit," Wedge said. "But he should be OK."

Dellucci is batting just .129 (4-for-31) with a double, a home run, one RBI, four walks and five strikeouts this spring.
