Indians Charities Donates $1 Million to Boys & Girls Clubs of Cleveland

CLEVELAND, OH -- Cleveland Indians Charities (CIC) is proud to announce the donation of $1 million to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Cleveland in support of the community organization’s “Save Our Kids” capital campaign.

Today’s $1 million dollar donation  is the largest one-time donation in Cleveland Indians Charities history and will bring the CIC lifetime giving total to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Cleveland to $2.7 million dollars since its first donation in 1992. The donation also reinforces the Cleveland Indians long-held commitment toward enhancing Cleveland’s community through education, recreation and humanitarian initiatives.

“We are proud to continuously support an organization that is built upon the guiding principles of integrity, excellence and commitment to improving the quality of life for Cleveland’s children,” said Indians Chairman and CEO PAUL DOLAN.

The Indians’ donation is the first sizable donation in support of the Boys & Girls Clubs’ “Save Our Kids” campaign. The “Save Our Kids” initiative aims to raise $16-20 million dollars over the next five (5) years in an effort to maximize the reach of existing Greater Cleveland clubs, add new clubs throughout the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, Breakthrough Charter Schools, and build a sustainable endowment to support the children of Cleveland.

“We are honored to receive a donation of this magnitude from the Indians,” said Boys & Girls Clubs of Cleveland President RON SOEDER.  “This is an enormous development for us as we continue to design programs to help support Cleveland’s youth and foster their self-confidence. Cleveland is truly fortunate to have an organization like Cleveland Indians Charities aware of the importance of being a responsible corporate citizen of the community.”

Cleveland Indians Charities is the self-sustaining charitable arm of the Cleveland Indians that concentrates on creative partnerships with select organizations that focus on youth education and recreation. Since its inception in 1989, CIC has donated nearly $9 million to youth-oriented agencies and organizations throughout Northeast Ohio.
