ARLINGTON -- Asdrubal Cabrera was out of the lineup, but available off the bench for Thursday's series finale with the Rangers.
Cabrera was pulled from Wednesday's 15-9 win midway through the fourth inning because of a mild right hip strain. He suffered the injury while fielding ground balls in batting practice, but felt he was OK to play, only to be proven wrong.
"It felt sore," Cabrera said Thursday. "But I feel good right now."
Manager Eric Wedge opted to give Cabrera an extra day's rest, in part because of utility infielder Jamey Carroll's history against Rangers starter Kevin Millwood. Carroll, who got the start at second base in place of Cabrera, was 5-for-11 with a double and a walk in previous at-bats against Millwood.
Cabrera, meanwhile, continued to receive treatment on the hip.
