Indians place Elarton on disabled list

DETROIT -- The Indians transferred reliever Scott Elarton from the restricted list to the 15-day disabled list with a non-baseball medical condition Tuesday.

Elarton had been placed on the restricted list last week because he is dealing with personal issues. The team does not wish to elaborate on what those issues are.

Manager Eric Wedge said Elarton is out "indefinitely."

Elarton, promoted from Triple-A Buffalo in late May, made eight appearances as the long reliever out of the Tribe's bullpen. He went 0-1 with a 3.52 ERA over 15 1/3 innings.
