Lindor, 18, is hitting .285 with four home runs and 23 RBIs for Class A Lake County this season. He also had stolen 14 bases in 60 games. Lindor is the youngest player on either of the Futures Game rosters.
Despite Lindor's youth, though, Atkins believes the prospect is ready to play in the event.
"I just look at these guys being the future of the Major Leagues," Atkins said. "I think he's a great selection. He will not be in awe, and he will handle himself well from a professionalism standpoint, and from an ability standpoint."
Indians manager Manny Acta made a trip to Lake County to watch Lindor play on an off-day earlier this season, and he was impressed with what he saw.
"He's a very good player," Acta said then. "He stands out a little bit, despite being just out of high school. He's got great body language and a lot of confidence in himself. You can see it. Regardless of the situation he's in, he looks like he's under control.
"He's going to be a good one."
Aguilar, 21, was signed by the Indians in 2007. The first baseman was hitting .295 with six home runs and 30 RBIs for Class A Carolina this season. Aguilar also had a .378 on-base percentage and 17 doubles in 65 games.
"With Jesus performing in the Carolina League as well as he is -- I think that's an outstanding choice as well," Atkins said. "Two very good representatives for us."
