Barfield off Tribe roster for Laffey

|
KANSAS CITY -- The Indians sent infielder Josh Barfield to Triple-A Columbus Tuesday night, clearing a roster spot for left-hander Aaron Laffey, who will start Wednesday against the Royals.

"[Barfield] hasn't had a chance to play hardly at all, just because of the start we're off to," Indians manager Eric Wedge said. "It'll give him a chance to go down and play, and we'll get things back in order here."

Barfield was a pinch-runner in Tuesday's 9-3 loss to the Royals. He was thrown out trying to steal in the eighth inning.
