Online balloting for the 2013 Major League Baseball All-Star Game, to be played July 16th at Citi Field in New York City, is under way on Indians.com.
Fans can vote for the nine Indians on the ballot by visiting Indians.com/vote, presented by freecreditscore.com. A record 40.2 million ballots were cast in last year's voting, including the highest online voting totals since online ballots began. Fans can vote up to 25 times on Indians.com/vote or by way of their mobile devices, while those fans with an Indians.com account will earn an additional 10 ballots.
"All-Star Balloting is more popular than ever and we hope for another record-setting year in 2013 as the Mets host our 84th Midsummer Classic," said Baseball Commissioner ALLAN H. (BUD) SELIG. "Major League Baseball is thrilled that fans throughout the world will continue to choose their favorite players for the greatest sporting event of the summer. We look forward to adding a new chapter to the remarkable National League tradition of New York City at Citi Field this summer."
In-stadium voting, presented by Firestone, begins Tuesday, April 30th, at Progressive Field, as the Indians open a nine-game homestand against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Pitchers and reserves for both squads will be determined through a combination of player ballots and selections made by the two All-Star managers, Jim Leyland of the Tigers and San Francisco's Bruce Bochy.
In-stadium voting ends June 28th, with online balloting ending July 4; the 2013 American League and National League teams will be unveiled on Sunday, July 7th on the 2013 MLB All-Star Game Selection Show on TBS. Immediately after each team is announced, voting for each league's last roster spot will begin in the 2013 All-Star Game MLB.com Final Vote. Those winners will be announced Thursday, July 11th.
Fans also will have the opportunity to select three participants from each league in the 2013 Home Run Derby, through the 2013 Home Run Derby Fan Poll that will be included on each All-Star Game ballot.
