Lake County C Jeremy Lucas wins Player of the Week honors

The Cleveland Indians today announced Single-A Lake County C JEREMY LUCAS has been named the Indians Minor League Player of the Week for August 12-19.

Lucas, 22, hit .389 (7-18) throughout the week with 2 doubles, a home run, 6 RBI and 4 runs scored, while posting a 1.227 OPS (.560 OBP/.667 SLG). Lucas had a 3-hit performance on August 14 vs. South Bend and is currently riding an 8-game hitting streak dating back to August 9. Over the course of the streak, Lucas has hit .393 (11-28), while amassing a Midwest League-best 1.219 OPS (.541 OBP/..679 SLG). Lucas played the first 5 games of the season for Double-A Akron before being sent to Lake County on April 27, where he has hit .299 (67-224) with 17 doubles, 5 home runs and 33 RBI.

The 6-2", 200-pound catcher was originally drafted by the Indians in the 12th round of the 2012 First-year Player Draft out of Indiana State University.
