After one minute and 58 seconds, the umpires ruled that the play would stand as called, and the Indians exited the first inning with a 2-0 lead over the Angels.
"Big for us, getting on the board first," Tribe manager Terry Francona said. "I actually didn't see it, because I was watching [Michael] Bourn. He was running on the play and got hung up on the play at second. I see the ball rolling around on the outfield. So I actually didn't know it was a home run."
It was Cabrera's seventh home run of the season.
