Tito loses challenge on Kipnis' attempted steal

DETROIT -- The Indians found themselves in desperate need of runs late in Sunday's game vs. the Tigers.

With his team trailing, 4-1, in the eighth inning, Jason Kipnis took off for second but was thrown out by Tigers catcher Alex Avila.

Cleveland manager Terry Francona challenged the safe call made by second-base umpire Scott Barry. From the replay, it appeared Detroit second baseman Ian Kinsler placed the tag on Kipnis just ahead of him reaching the bag.

After a 57-second video review, Barry's call was confirmed.
