CLEVELAND, OH - The Cleveland Indians today announced the following roster moves relative to the Major League roster:
Recalled RHP ZACH McALLISTER from AAA Columbus.
Optioned RHP JOSH TOMLIN to AAA Columbus.
McAllister, 26, has gone 3-5 with a 5.28 ERA (35 ER/59.2 IP) in 12 games/starts for Cleveland, collecting 51 strikeouts against 24 walks. He is set to rejoin the Indians rotation and get tonight's start in Kansas City on 6 days' rest after taking the bump as the club's "26th man" in Game Two of last Saturday's doubleheader in Detroit, a 5-2 win over the Tigers to complete a day/night sweep. McAllister made his first 10 starts of the 2014 season with Cleveland (3-4, 5.89 ERA), before being placed on the 15-day DL on May 22 with lower back inflammation. Following his activation from the DL, he was optioned to Triple-A where he has gone 5-0 with a 2.23 ERA (9 ER/36.1 IP) in 6 starts for the Clippers.
Tomlin, 29, has gone 5-7 with a 4.47 ERA (43 ER/86.2 IP) in 15 games/14 starts with the Indians since being recalled from Triple-A Columbus on May 6. The 29-year-old right-hander reeled off three straight quality starts to begin his season with the Tribe and was 4-2 with a 3.12 ERA (14 ER/40.1 IP) through his first 7 games/6 starts, but has taken losses in 5 of his last 6 decisions over 8 games/starts since June 12.
