The Mariners selected the contract of right-hander Joe Wieland from Triple-A Tacoma and will start him in Friday night's series opener in Oakland after needing scheduled starter Ariel Miranda for an inning of work in relief in Tuesday's 15-inning, 6-5 victory over the Tigers.

2016

Spent most of the 2016 season in Triple-A Tacoma in the Seattle Mariners organization, hitting .287 (117-408) with 19 doubles, 7 triples, 6 home runs and 46 RBI in 114 games (.357/.412/.769). He also appeared in 9 games with the Major League club in July, batting .263 (5-19) with a 2B and RBI. The versatile Robertson appeared in 38 games at second base, 35 games in left field, 29 games in center field and 16 games in right field for the Rainiers... Hit .316 (86-272) off RHP at AAA (.824 OPS), .228 (31-136) off LHP, .325 (52-160) in the second half and .326 (30-92) with RISP...Was with the Mariners from July 5-August 11, marking 4 starts in left field, 1 start each in center and right field...Outrighted off the 40-man on August 14 after 8/12 DFA.
