Indians place Colon on 15-day disabled list

Prior to Friday's game against the Orioles, the Indians announced that rookie right-hander Joseph Colon has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with inflammation in his right shoulder.

2016

Season started late due to suspension, was dominant and Triple-A and got his first taste of Major League action in July and September...Was suspended on January 8 for the first 50 games of the season for violating the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program (drug of abuse) and did not make his first appearance until May 31 at Triple A Columbus...Allowed runs in only 3 of 20 Triple-A outings and recorded an ERA of 0.82 for the Clippers (22.0IP, 8H, 4R/2ER, 12BB, 21SO, .114 average against)...Slated to be a Major League non-roster invite prior to suspension and worked out of Minor League camp in March...Added to 40-man roster on July 2...Did not allow a home run over 22.0 Minor League innings, limited right-handed batters to a .100 (4-40) average against while left-handed hitters hit .133 (4-30)...Batters hit .065 (2-31) with runners on base at Triple-A and .154 (2-13) with RISP...Was recalled for the first time on July 7...Made his Major League debut on July 8 vs. the New York Yankees (1.0IP, 2H, 1R/ER, 0BB, 1K-Ellsbury)...Made 3 appearances in July before going on the 15-day Disabled List with right shoulder inflammation on July 19...Rehabbed at AAA Columbus starting on August 6 and was activated and optioned to Columbus on August 15...Recalled for a second time on September 1 and spent the remainder of the season with Cleveland...Appeared in 8 games in September, posting an ERA of 9.95 and picked up his first Major League win on September 9 at Minnesota (1.0IP, 0H, 0R, 1BB, 0SO) in a 5-4 win in relief of Danny Salazar...Worked a career-high 2.1 scoreless inning on July 10 vs. New York-AL. ‹ Major League hitters batted .389 (7-18) with runners on base and .308 (4-13) with RISP...Lefties were just 4-for-20 (.200) with 2 2B, 0 HR and a .573 OPS allowed...Righties had a 1.160 OPS against...Pitched in one regular season game and the playoffs in the PRWL towards the end of December.
